External cladding serves important purposes from many propeties. It can be aesthetically pleasing, and can also protect the building.
However, cladding can present safety issues too, as we sadly saw in the disaster at Grenfell Tower in June 2017.
Flammable materials have been used in cladding, which presents an enormous fire safety risk. Cladding (and other fire safety measures) may cost billions to replace, and because of these costs mortgage lenders are currently reluctant to lend on affected properties.
